Spirit of Oya -Biography

The multifaceted Jacqueline Oya Thomas is an artist well sought after. She wrote and produced the music in the promotional campaign for the movie Joyful Noise featuring Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah where she is also featured prominently as lead vocalist and choir director. Her latest acting role in the hit feature The Therapist as the spicy Xenia has achieved national acclaim and has resulted in a very successful web series. The film is positioned to be one of the highlights and top features of the San Diego Black Film Festival for 2012.

The Los Angeles native has been in many productions from theatre, film, voice over and musical recordings. Oya is well known for her work as an actress in hit plays as The Devil in “A Passion for Justice,” and as Lena Horne in “When Divas Where Divas.” Oya has recorded with such artist as Preston Glass, Heavy D and Snoop Dogg and has graced the stage with renowned recording artist such as Patrice Rushen and Howard Hewett. Oya's voice is also widely recognized as the spunky Manhattan bowling character Regina Stevens in Alien Monster Bowling League on the Wii Console. Currently, Oya's voice can be heard all over the world as a singer on projects from Jazz, Gospel, R&B/Soul to Electronic style music with the Las Vegas act Soul in the Machine.
