Ok, I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: Your body is your temple. Something I’ve learned in my time on the earth is that n order to protect that temple and keep it healthy so you have the energy to get through each and every day feeling alive and well, you have to get on a schedule.
If you’re the creative type like me, you might naturally be a little more free-spirited than the rest of us, so the thought of keeping a schedule might not make you feel fantastic.
I’m going to level with you, though. In order to be at our best, no matter what dream we have for ourselves, we need to set up a schedule that lets us rest, eat right and exercise.
Why? Well, the physical body is a host to all your spirit’s fantastic work, so you need to be ready to get out there, create and live joyously! Trust me, I know that staying on a schedule is challenging and can even sometimes feel a little boring. I don’t work out every day, and sometimes I let a few things slide here and there. But I do the very best I can, and I do pretty well!
Even when you fall out of line, don’t despair! Go a little easy on yourself, make your way back to the gym, take a walk, go to yoga class or just get active ASAP so you can jump right back into that healthy groove.
I’m not going to lie: Maintaining a strong body is a commitment. It can also be a lifestyle change for some. It’s about being disciplined and practicing little healthy habits every single day. These little habits might seem little, but they add up! Better yet, they keep you feeling physically on top of the world, so you’re ready to pull the very best goodies out of your heart and soul.
If you’re wondering where to start, I can tell you something that seems small that I do that makes a huge difference. I made a commitment to always having nourishing food on hand at home. When I have food that makes me feel great at the ready, I always have a nutritious snack to re-energize me, even when I’m caught up in the creative process.
Now, I am lucky. I have an assistant who helps keep me on task and keeps me accountable when I am tempted to let my healthy body routine slide. When I think about ordering dinner instead of making myself something healthy that I have on hand or not eating at all, she supports positive choices. On the set of one of my videos, one of her main tasks was bringing me water, an apple or a banana during the day to keep me fueled up and feeling good.
Do you also find yourself not having time to make healthy choices? Make tending to your temple a regular habit! Keep a big jug of water in front of you, pack those snacks and set alarms to remind you if you are worried you’ll get wrapped up in something. You can even have a friend help make you accountable by reminding you for a bit until you get into a routine.
Maybe you’re thinking, “Who doesn’t remember to eat? Who needs all this jazz? I’m not a child!” But the fact that eating is a basic need is why we need to focus on it. If your body is not feeling powerful and in top form, how are you going to empower yourself to soar as high as I know you can go?
Your spirit and mind are counting on your body to be healthy so you can realize all those beautiful dreams of yours and fulfill your life’s purpose!
